When I decided to take up ballroom dancing a few years back, I had no idea what I was getting into! It is such a fun hobby and, as a single lady solely interested in a new experience, it has proven to be a wonderful way to get me out of my own shell. It’s really great getting to learn a fantastic new skill and meet a whole new group of people in the area. Want to know more what I learned from dancing for the fun of it?
It's a Fantastic Way To Stay In Shape.
I really didn’t know what to expect when I first clutched my purse wandering cautiously into the studio. Thankfully, I immediately was met with a smiling face and ‘walked through paces’ of what was going to happen and how things would feel.
Still being a wallflower a few months in to my experience, it certainly did get much easier to come to the studio and soon I immersed myself. At this point, I was a regular coming in at 3-4 times a week. It’s really a great form of exercise and, as I was about knee deep into my 30’s, I figured I wasn’t getting any younger and a body in motion stays in motion, eh!

It’s Led To Self-discovery!
The most exciting part is probably learning more about myself and how to interact with others. Learning to follow and take on different ‘roles’ as a dancer is more beneficial than I could have ever imagined. And sure it’s a lot of fun and good exercise but I had no idea how it would transform my body image and confidence!

The first time someone asked me if I was a dancer, I almost fell over from shock. It was such a great feeling that someone could see a transformation that I thought only I was privy to.
Exciting New Journey
Another truly exciting part of this continuing education, is that I now own a skill which I can take everywhere. It's similar to when you buy a new car and start seeing them everywhere.
Now when I’m off on business trips I run into many other dancers and it gets me out of awkward meaningless small talk! Also it gives me a lot more to do when I’m in a new town. Any night of the week is now open for a new adventure!
